Nomination
- The nominee must be a current member of HEIA.
- The nomination must be submitted by any 3 members of an HEIA divisional Committee of Management or any group of at least 6 members of HEIA.
- The nomination must be completed at least 6 months prior to the triennial conference to be considered for the award.
- Nominations received after the closing date will not be considered unless there are extenuating circumstances. The decision to accept a late application will be made by the chair of the Fellowship Task Group after conferring with the Task Group.
- Nominations must be completed using the online official HEIA nomination form. The nominations are forwarded to the Executive Member.
- Receipt of nominations will be acknowledged by the Executive Member.
- Nominations are confidential to the Executive Member and the Leadership Award Task Group.
Selection
- Successful nominees will have made an outstanding contribution, at a national and/or divisional level, to the profession and/or to HEIA, such that their contribution has impacted positively on the way the profession (at large) thinks, acts and/or is perceived. This could be, for example, through:
- professional initiatives related to government, community, education and/or industry
- contributing to the home economics body of knowledge through research, and/or
- published writing.
- The Fellowship Task Group will judge each nomination on the extent to which the nominee’s contribution to the profession is of outstanding value.
- Nominations are to be supported by evidence to substantiate the claims being made on behalf of the nominee. Information provided about the nominee should be specific rather than general.
- Only evidence provided in the nomination is to be considered. Anecdotal or researched evidence, or personal knowledge provided by members of the Fellowship Task Group will not be considered.
Responsibilities
- The Executive Member of Council is responsible for coordinating activities related to Fellowship awards. They will:
- acknowledge receipt of nominations.
- coordinate Fellowship Task Group to review.
- inform the nominators of the outcome of the application.
- inform the division nominating of a successful nominee.
- inform the recipient of the award.
- The award will be presented at a suitable national occasion or by the division nominating at a function of its choice.
- The Council determines the nature of the award that includes a
- a fellowship pin based on the HEIA logo
- professionally framed A4 certificate
- bouquet of flowers or similar.
- The Executive Member works with the Communications Standing Committee to provide and approve the certificate and wording.
