The Queensland division offers two awards that recognise excellence and service within the profession.
The HEIA(Q) Home Economics Teacher Excellence Awards acknowledge members who have consistently demonstrated outstanding teaching in Home Economics and related subject areas, including innovation in curriculum and contributions to professional learning.
The Dr Janet Reynolds Award for Service to HEIA(Q) recognises individuals who have provided exceptional and sustained service to the organisation, with recipients selected by the Committee of Management and typically announced at the annual conference.

The South Australian division offers the Resek Scholarship, established through a generous donation honouring Ellen and Marietta Resek, which supports South Australian students undertaking undergraduate studies in Home Economics by recognising academic excellence and professional practice. Currently valued at $6000, the scholarship is awarded to up to two recipients annually, with applications generally closing on 1 July each year. Beyond financial support, the scholarship reflects the Resek sisters’ legacy of resilience, social justice, and commitment to education, encouraging recipients to contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of individuals and communities.

The Tasmanian Division offers two awards: the Ruth Mainsbridge Teacher Recognition Award and the Muriel Marshall Memorial Prize.
The Ruth Mainsbridge Teacher Recognition Award honours the late Ruth Mainsbridge and recognises the outstanding work of Tasmanian Home Economics teachers. Supported by Ruth’s close friends, Lorraine and Peter Riggall, the award celebrates excellence and promotes Ruth’s legacy of best practice in Home Economics education.
The Muriel Marshall Memorial Prize is awarded to the outstanding student in the Textiles and Foods components of the Technology program within the Bachelor of Teaching degree at the University of Tasmania.
The Victorian division offers the Norma Jean Findley Memorial Award. This award recognises a current HEIA(V) member who has made a significant and recent contribution to the field of home economics, whether through advancing knowledge, supporting the profession, or raising its profile in the community. Open to all financial Victorian members, nominations must demonstrate meaningful impact aligned with HEIA’s values and be submitted by late November.

The Marilyn Yates Prize honours the significant contributions of Marilyn Yates to education and the home economics profession. It is presented to a graduating student at Edith Cowan University who achieves the highest weighted average mark in a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) with a major in Home Economics recognising academic excellence and commitment to the field.
