Upcycling and refashioning clothes is a way for us to be engaged in the making process and begin to appreciate the resources, skills and time that go into the clothes we buy. By learning to repair and restyle, we extend the life of our clothes as we reduce our material footprint.

Kerryn is a dietitian and Mary is a home economist. They have combined their professions to offer every aspect of food education. Their backgrounds working in the health system, media and private sector has given them a clear view of the gaps in education for the general public in eating well.

The session will explore effective feedback practices that build student agency and facilitate a classroom culture in which students are responsible for progressing their own and others’ learning. A reflective, feedback-focused mindset is crucial for students to effectively engage in the design thinking and design processes that underpin the Technologies learning area.

The Repair Cafe movement has grown rapidly since its inception in 2009 and there are now more than 1500 repair cafes in 37 countries around the world, including 38 in Australia. In 2018, repair cafes collectively saved around 350,000 kilos of waste (https://repaircafe.org/en/about/).

2020 has sure been a year for the history books! As individuals and as a country, we have had to adapt and rise to the many challenges that have presented themselves.
